About Me

About me:

By profession I am an elementary school teacher. I teach literature and grammar. I have a M.A. in education through art from Leasly College.

I am also the proud parent of three wonderful children (two of them almost ready to leave the nest), and consider raising them my one true duty.

I am not a professor of anything, but, I consider myself an avid pursuer of knowledge, a researcher of psychology and health. You might say that I’m a professional amateur.

I also: exercise, do yoga and meditation, try to listen to as much good music as I can (playing my trusted guitar whenever possible).

About My Blog Living Right - Losing Weight:

There’s a story here, so bear with me.

Basically, it all starts with my family.

You see, I come from a family in which weight is a big issue.

Both of my parents were overweight, my sister was overweight, and i was overweight myself. I had overweight friends, and overweight relatives. Many of these people were struggling to lose weight.

And I watched all this from the sidelines while my mother and my sister and one of my best friends all used all different sorts of
dieting methods.

They’ve tried everything! From fad and exotic diets to strict exercise regimes, diet pills and other diet aids.

And eventually, nothing worked. Oh, they would lose some weight, sure. like most of us - they would get excited about a new diet
that looked promising- lose a few pounds - and then gain them right back again.

I’ve seen it too many times. Heck, I’ve been there myself too many times.

at some point, around the time i finished my bachelor’s degree in education, i decided that things can’t go on like this any more.

At first, I started talking to people i knew. I asked them: what was it that made it so hard to lose weight for good?
I got all sorts of answers:

Food was their fun. Food was their addiction. Food was their comfort. Food was the only thing that they knew.

And they all seemed to figure that a short term diet could make a difference.  But it never did.

But there was more to it. I felt like I have to know more.

Eventually, I started talking to experts, started attending groups, started checking out various sorts of diets on myself.

After a few years and a lot of soul searching things got a little clearer.

I don’t claim to have any magic solutions, but I got my weight balanced and helped my loved ones to do the same. You might say I became the family personal trainer.

I developed my own method of dieting – one that infuses nutrition and psychology, motivation and fitness, health and spirituality and a lot of common sense. Above all - it helps people to gain balance in their life instead of robbing them of it.

Eventually, my wife suggested I’ll start my own blog and share my enthusiasm with people.

I agreed. And here we all are.

I want to share with you what I found out, in hope they will serve you too.

Yours,

Dave Mason.
