Why Do Some People Can’t Lose Weight And How To Avoid Becoming One Of Them?

Many of the overweight people I know have told me the next sentence at least once:
“I can’t lose weight, I tried everything and nothing works for me”
Well, what can I say? Some of them really have tried everything.
Does it mean nothing works?
Of course not,
It also doesn’t mean that they didn’t try hard enough.
Let me give you some food for thought,
These are a few sentences that I heard too many times in my life:
“It’s bigger than me”
“I can’t do it”
“It’s not my choice to make, I’m an addict”
I’m sure you heard/said at least one of those.
To the people who say these things I got only one response:
“So why bother trying?”
Am I right? Just be fat and be done with it!
Why suffer both your weight and your recurring failures?
There is one very first step that some of us just missed.
The first and most basic thing to do is acquire some “can do” attitude!
Start by setting yourself up for success, not failure.
And let me tell you one other thing,
It’s really not bigger than you!
I have a relative who lost 120 pounds in less than a year!
And that is after trying all different kinds of diets and failing for the better part of 10 years.
The point is, 10 years she tried the wrong diets for her.
She tried diets that work but not for her.
So the next step after getting a “can do” attitude is getting a diet program that fits you.
And concentrate on the “Fits you” part.
A lot of diet programs work. These diets really can benefit people. You’ve seen these people around: maybe on TV, maybe you have a friend, or a friend’s friend who did it. There are success stories.
But for every success story there are 10 failures.
why?
Because there is no such thing as a perfect diet.
There is a clear difference between less and more successful diets.
But this is a due to some diets focusing on concepts relevant to most people,
While other focus on a new technique that only works for few.
The main thing is to find what works for you.
One last thing, regarding the “addicts” among us,
Food can and is often displayed as an addictive substance.
There are many support groups around that believe in this idea.
The most popular is OA (overeaters anonymous).
If you feel like food is an addiction to you don’t hesitate and join such groups,
It will help you as it helps many people I know.
My perspective says “nothing is stronger than you and if your are addicted, just quit!”.
I know it is far from easy to just quit. Sometimes “just quitting” is not a good idea anyway and can have harmful repercussions.
I suggest you find your weak point and deal with it. Take care of your misconceptions before you take care of your weight. Find out what food means to you and solve the issues you have about eating.
It’s not an easy thing to do. Some people will do best in a support group, others might benefit from psychotherapy.
But believe me, for most people it is possible even without professional help. You just need to ask yourself the right questions.
So if you think just can’t do it, just listen,
SURE YOU CAN!
